Team Tyler!
July 10th, 2008 Posted in News, Related EventsThree years ago, Janice Spicuzza learned she was going to have twins. Unfortunately, a closer look showed that the twins were sharing blood through a single umbilical cord. This is a very rare condition called twin-to-twin transfusion. It was determined that one of the twins was giving all of his blood to his brother, Tyler, and he sadly died at twenty-five weeks. Tyler would soon be diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
Tyler, now 3, will be accompanying his mother, Janice, and his father, Chris, in the Cleveland Triathlon on August 3rd, which this year benefits United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland. Tyler will be in his special jogging stroller while his mother runs the 10K race. Chris will then tow Tyler in a trailer behind his bike as he completes twenty-four miles. The last length of the triathlon is a mile-and-a-half swim in Lake Erie which will be completed by a family friend on behalf of Team Tyler.
The family has praised United Cerebral Palsy for all their help and support. They can’t wait to take part in the triathlon and also to help raise money and awareness for the UCP. On August 3rd Team Tyler, along with many other families, will work together to help the cause!
